would-be assassin hadn鈥檛 had the gun? Jim Brady wouldn鈥檛 be in that wheelchair. Perhaps he would be off doing amazing things. But, we will never know, because he did have a gun. Guns are far too easy to get in America. Sure, you need to pass a series of tests to purchase a gun legally, but you can get one off of the black market without any questions asked. Also, suppose you went into a gun store, passed the test, and bought a gun. You could easily turn to a life of crime, and you wouldn鈥檛 even have to go to the trouble of getting a new one. In Connecticut, there is a law that says that you must keep a weapon concealed. This puts innocents at risk, mostly because no security officer will see any gun, and the person who could very well be a murderer won鈥檛 be stopped.
Though I strictly believe that guns should be controlled, I can understand what people who are against it are saying. The National Rifle Association鈥檚 Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre wrote 鈥淚n the minds of the

Again, it's a one sided, knee jerk rant that completely ignores the myriad of instances where having a firearm saved a victim from a would be criminal.

Try having the honesty of looking at both sides.

48 states allow certain citizens to carry concealed firearms. The laws vary from state to state on what process you have to go through in order to do this legally. Alaska and Vermont allow anyone over 18 to conceal carry a handgun without any sort of permit or training. There has never been any safety risk proven to be associated with this. In fact Vermont has just about the lowest murder rate in the country.

Also the National Rifle Association has been in support of workable, enforceable gun control legislation since its very inception in 1871. They have backed all of the toughest gun control laws we have in the country. All the way from the National Firearms Act of 1934 to the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007. The Brady Campaign is a radical fringe group in favor of passing legislation that bans guns from law-abiding citizens.
