can he get social security or medical care from the government; does anyone have any details about this at all i would really appreciate it does anyone know how much each child will recieve until he is 18; my brother was 34 and made about 40k for the last 12 years if that makes a difference Go to your nearest Social Services office. Social Security will pay a small one time death benefit to his family and his children will be elligible for Social Security payments until they are 18 based on your brother's elligibility. There are no medical benefits available in this case unless one or more of the children are disabled and your brother, of course would receive nothing. the children will be able to social security (depending on how much the father paid into social security) and they should be able to get medicaid. how sad, sorry for your loss.
