Is it okay if?

your mother in law knew your Social Security number?

Well, it depends on why she would need to know it. If there is some legitimate reason, then it would be okay. If you trust her, then it would be okay. If you don't trust her, and there's no reason she wants it, I'm not sure whether it is a good idea. I wouldn't care if my mother in law had my social security number.

Dana

Do you mean "Is it illegal for you to give it to her?" If so, then the answer is, "No, it's not illegal for you to give out your social security number."

Do you mean "Is it smart to give out your social security number?" If so, then the answer is "Not usually, because this is a major cause of identity theft."

You should also know that it is against the law in many jurisdictions (including the federal law, I believe) for most parties to a contract to require you to give them your SSN. There are some exceptions, of course.

if she is married to your father she usually knows what he knows any how as his wife ,parents are the ones that give us our paper work in the first place when we are young so it is to reason that your dad haves copy's of or remembers your number . no I don't like it but maybe you could make things even by having hers talk to dad not her .as a husband he haves her number to so think about that.

why would she need to ? that is what i would be asking myself i dont think , no i know mine doesnt know mine !

ask her how she got your number

why does she have it hell no your husband yes her no
