Theft of legal documents? |
I was working as a security guard and after the janitors left for the day they would leave trash around the loading dock which I would throw away to keep the dock looking clean. so earler today I got a call from the police department about a missing box that contained legal documents. I asked them where the box was left and they told me the box was left on the loading dock. so I told them the only thing I could think of is that the box was thrown away with the trash. the reply I got from the police was that the law firm want to prosecute me for theft. so I am wondering what my outlook is. I am on camera from the dock area to the trash area in which the box is missing from and I know that if they actually looked at all the cameras they would see that I went straight to the trash bins. And it would have been thrown out there. I got another call about 2 minutes ago from the police again and was told that the box was supposed to be picked up by an overnight carrer It's not theft if it was abandoned and left for trash. But I can see how they would be upset and try to threaten you out of frustration. They are probably freaking out because it was their mistake and they don't want to be responsible for it. |
