Lost birth certificate, ss card and ALL forms of photo id!!! I can't get one without the other! any suggestion

I have recently been through some hard times with a horrible man and I am finally out on my own. In the process he has destroyed everything I had...including my birth certificate, my ss card and the 2 photo id's I had. I've gone to both the DMV and the Social Security website and I need to have one to get the other and I don't know what to do. Please can someone help me?

I was born in Washington state and now live in New York

I would go to the town hall where you were born and request a copy of your birth certificate(You can do this online now.) You might want to also go to the highschool in which you graduated and have them write a letter certifying your identity.

Yes that is the way it goes nowdays. I went through this after a fire. Check the passport website. http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fir...

You gather a few things. Like credit cards, library cards, voter registration card, school transcripts, paystub and such. Basically just various stuff. You will need a birth certificate which in most cases you can just go to the courthouse. But also in most cases you can order online.

Now here is the thing. A person you know with ID can sign a form in person saying that they have known you for 2 years if you have no picture ID. I thought they had changed it to where it had to be a close relative but it still says "a person that knows you". You can do all of this at the post office.

First of all, file a police report...get it documented that you official documents are lost/destroyed. Take or send a copy of the police report to the hall of records in the county where you were born, with a written request for a copy of your birth certificate. They should be able to send your an official copy. Once you have your birth certificate, take it to your social security office....if you can, ask to have the number changed...because you don't want your "horrible man" to have any hold over your info or records. After getting your SSN card or confirmation, you should be able to go to the DMV. Always take with you your police report....because sometimes they will waive any costs associated with getting new identification.

call the bureau of vital statistics in your birth state they can guide you through the process. most states you can download the application for a birth certificate and then fax it back to hurry the process. of course will have to answer all their questions satisfactorily to prove it is you. then you will be able to replace you other documents. social security card should not be a problem either, if you can go to a SS office in person. good luck

You birth certificate should be the easiest to recover. You might be able to get a duplicate ID with the DMV. Where I live all the ID photos are digital so if you still look like the person in the computer system...

Bring copies of court records of the divorce. Sometimes having these documents help. Also do you have copies of utility bills? I got a library card with a light bill as proof of residency.

Have you ever been finger printed? (some jobs require it...not just criminals) Fingerprints don't change. Find out if you can get documentation that way.

there are also lawyers who specialize in ID theft recovory. They might help...even though yours wasn't stolen...but I would want to check my credit report just incase.

You can request a birth certificate from the hospital without any photo ID. You may need to know what your SS number is, but I don't believe you actually need the card. As far as photo ID, if you went to college you may be able to get them to issue you an ID even if you aren't currently a student. Hope it works out for you.

PS- What a prick!!

I don't think the SS administration will take a BC as a form of id. But I think they can use shot records. The registar of deeds in the county where you were born can get you a copy of your BC. Im not sure but since you are already in the NYdatabase with an ID card aren;t there other forms of ID they can take other than the BC and SScard?

Contact the Bureau of Vital Statistic's in the state you were born in a order another copy of your birth certificate. The you can reorder your ss card.

Start by sending for a duplicate birth certificate.

you should be able to get a copy of your birth certificate from the county you were born. not positive though.

call the county where you were born and they should be able to get you a copy of your birth certificate
