Security Guard abuse powers?

I was just wondering if anyone knew if the security guard at a high school is allowed to do this- Well me and my friend went in the parking lot and were hanging out during lunch and some one saw us and thought we were doing a drug deal. After we left the security guard went to where we were and found a bag on the ground with little pieces of marijuana in it. It wasnt ours, and he could not prove it. He interviewed us separately and when he interviewed me he said "Well your friend already said it was your guy's pot and that you were the one selling it to him" this is a complete lie cuz i know he didn't say that, i even asked the note taker to check if he said that during my friends interview and he said no my friend had never said that. So i was just wonderring if the security guard is allowed to straight up lie and tell me false statements to try to get me to confess??

No he just wants to be rewarded Security guard of the month with no gun...lol

Technically there is nothing illegal by him asking and saying those things in an interview, but if you were formally charged by law enforcement, then it would be illegal for him to use that statement in filing. Unfortunetly police officers often will make statements like that when interviewing seperate suspects to try and get one person to admit to wrong doing to try and clear thier name against what the other person supposedly said. Your security guard aparently watches to may cop shows.... just next time plead the 5th whenever they try and question you again.

Sadly, yes, they can lie to get you to confess. The supposition is that if you didn't do it, you'll stick to your story rather than corroborate the lie. The reality is that you'll often corroborate the lie in an attempt to soften the punishment.

It's very sad.

Hes trying to get you to confess and if it really was a drug deal they would have had ye busted dude, well probaly coz thats only if you would have confessed so ye wouldnt get in trouble much if ye really did do, but i believe you, take no crap from no one

I am a Security Guard; this is NOT proper. A Security Guard's job is to OBSERVE & REPORT; NOT to take on the role as a police officer. You need to report this to his Security Company.

Security guards have no power period. They're just rent-a-cops. Seriously, they're on par with fast food employees. I mess around with them all the time because they really can't do anything except call the real cops.

yes they are allowed to do that its too try and trick people who are really guilty to confess because if they think there friends has already told the truth they are more likey to.

Hell no report him. get him fired. But it largely depends on your area and what freedom the school allows him to have. Just get your dad to kick his as s;)

Looks like u were in the wrong place, at the wrong time; best of luck getting out of this jam.

of course they can do that. They do it all the time.

If you are not guilty, no big deal.

lol they want to show you they have power!~

yes he can not only that but other thing too

Security guards have no more power than
ordinary citizens, they can only hold someone until police arrive under specific restricted guidlines. Some people knickname them renta-cops because they wear uniforms that resemble law enforcement officers. The latter is part of psychological intimidation to affect people that have been raised in a society conditioned to police authority. Security is essential these days in all public places, especially schools where organized gangs compete not only in drug distribution but in many types of criminal activity. This doesn't give those guards exemption from violating search and seizure laws, but many of them do so anyway because they figure whose to know and in most cases the cops will side with them in preference to students, etc.
They are the law enforcements eyes and ears on campus, so you can figure it out from there. American high schools all keep files on every student and these files list every violation and behavior reports gathered from teachers and different sources throughout the students attendance at the school. Unfortunately they can be used as leverage and to intimidate the students by school authorities that have access to them, Also these files are discreetly available for law enforcement scrutiny although schools will never admit it.!
Students are not obliged to cooperate or answer any questions to any security guards
or any other person without a lawyer being present and that's their rights under the law if they insist on it. They are after all Americans regardless of age and are entitiled to the same protection under the laws as adults.

Your school probably has cameras in the parking lots, like most schools. Either it was really yours, or they are just trying to get you to confess to something that you didn't do. Take it to the principal. Or tell your parents and have them call. I would just be careful, because whether they are "rent-a-cops" or not, it's his word over yours. He can do whatever he likes. He is the adult, the authority at your school, and you are a child and a student there.

Not to mention, most schools also nowadays have REAL Cops in them. At least I know they do in the state of Florida, New York, and New Jersey.

Look at it this way, if you aren't guilty, and the baggie wasn't yours, what do you have to worry about? Innocent until proven guilty.
