Private Citizen VS Social Security?

Is it required for all citizens to have a social security number? Is there an organization that rejects the idea of social security numbers?

Yes it is required. You might find a few folks that refused to go along with it in jail.

You pretty much need a social security number to live in the US. You need it to get a job, you need it to open bank accounts, you need it to do deal with the government. It would be very hard to actually live without having one.

I do not know of any specific organizations that oppose the SSN requirement but I bet there are some out there.

You have to have a social security number. It's just the law.

Now Social Security numbers are issued to children pretty much at birth. I did know a monk once who chose to disestablish himself. Got rid of citizenship, social security, IRS, DMV, the works. Of course he wasn't eligible for any of the benefits that come along with US citizenship either.

lots of people reject the idea. I don't think there is a law that says you have to, but it would be a huge hassle to not have one.

It is issued now when you are born, it has not always been thatt way, it was when you were 18. I was born before S.S. it came in in 1933.
You Have to have a soc. number to go to college, get a job, get a drivers lisense, rent an apt. buy a house or car, and most of all to retire.
So wyh wouldn't you want one.

well, you get one when you're born (birth certificate and SSN go hand in hand). So unless you were never registered as being born, you've got a SSN.
