I was assaulted at work? I feel unsafe going back without proper security what are my rights? |
I was working the overnight shift at "a fast food restaurant" with another employee when we got really busy alot of the customers were drunk and abusive. One drunken customer placed an order that was $300 I told him there would be a wait of up to 30 mins as there was only 2 of us working he said that was fine and he was prepared to wait and had ordered for all the people waiting. We began making the order after 5 mins of waiting he verbally abused me then the customer came behind the counter and tried to attack both myself and the other employee yelling racial remarks and threatening violence. His friends eventually pulled him back behind the counter he then threw food at me repeatedly and hit me in the head with several objects and tried to get behind the counter again. I called the police he was charged with 2 counts of assault. I'm more annoyed with how my boss acted she didn't get out of bed to check I was ok and asked me to work the next day, I didn't. I don't feel ready to go back? Truthfully, you have no rights to security. get a lawyer and sue the hell out of them.... it's the responsibility of the employer to provide for the security of their employees. you could also get an award for the pain and suffering you've had to go thru. |
