Can any harm be done with giving someone the last 4 digits of your social security number? |
I am at school and someone wanted a petition signed for student government so they can run next year. I gladly said I would sign and they said they needed me to write down the last 4 of my social to verify that I am a student at this school. well other's had done it but now I am a little concerned. I wouldnt worry too much. There is no way to get the whole thing with just the last four, and you need the whole thing to get credit or something like that. The last four is pretty commonly asked. Run do not Walk... Probably not. But I would suggest to the school that they not allow such use of ssn because it makes it seem like it is ok to give out your whole ssn. |
