Anyone else tired of Nigerian scammers?

Does it make you angry knowing that several of your best buds have been duped by Nigerian scammers who pretend to be best friends, then throw them for the, hey, I am from the UK, but I am studying in Lagos, Nigeria.

I will pay you back, but I just need money for a plane ticket t get back home.,,, Etc etc etc.

I really love you, or whatever other scheme they think the person will fall for.

I even had a FAKE lawyer try to call me, claiming my sister was behind on old debt & she needed to call him at such and such a number as soon as possible, because he could help her settle for far less than her debt.

They had sent out a summons to the local court to freeze all property associated with social security number such and such.

I get so tired of the liars, that I am a nice and kind person, but I really wish I could meet some of them and shoot them for thinking people are so dumb!

Anyone else tired of all the lies and scams out there?

Seriously, the gov needs to do something about it!

Seeing the 1st two responses isn't that encouraging.

If everyone "Deserves what they get!" just because they got tricked but had honest intentions, or just because they got blinded with what they thought was real love because they went through a horrible time growing up and someone was "nice" to them...

If the law isn't there to protect the innocent, then the law is just as much criminal as the criminals.

If we cannot trust the law to protect us, then why have the law in the first place?

I am sorry, criminals do NOT need to get away with crimes with a pat on the back "Oh, you were just so brilliant, feller, congratulations on how smoothly you committed your crime!"

It's not about who is the smartest is it? Shouldn't it be about punishing the criminals?

Anyone can get lied to or tricked! We all have weaknesses.

Letting crooks off the hook is such a bad example, and teaches people that reporting crime is no good. The criminals are smart, so they DESERVE to go free?

how do you legislate criminals no one ever sees who work with the permission of the people they are stealing from from countries no one in their right mind should be dealing with? Nigeria at this point is a punchline!

Usually the only people who still fall for these obvious scams are either stupid or greedy. And they get exactly what they deserve.

To the best of my knowledge... the govt in the US or the UK has no jurisdiction over anyone in Nigeria. I hope that either govt is not going to start screening my email.
YOU need to do something. Open only email from persons that you actually know, or sources that you recognize. I am truly sorry that you or your friends are not aware of the scams going on via the internet. The govt cannot be held responsible for lack of awareness. The ONLY way any of the scammers get away, is because people open the email, and respond. The saddest reality.. there ARE people that are so dumb.
Collection agencies are not out of Nigeria, by the way.

US LAW IS NOT ENFORCEABLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

I just have a "cut and paste" standard answer that drives them nuts and it only takes the time to change the name at the top. My wife is Nigerian, I am Irish so I have learned some of the local dialect and voila: p.s. stuff in brackets is explanitory to you

I would like to thank you for writing to me as I am a very rich man and I would most graciously like to help you take all my money so that you can move to England and become a Londonaire (they think every one who lives in london is a millionaire)(also their grasp of U.S. English is not as good to pick up that you are not being serious). I will then be left with small small money to chop my Cuss Cuss and Pepa Soup ( local dialect for a litttle money to buy cheap food). But I will be a happy man as it is easier for a poor man to get to heaven than a rich man through the eye of an needle (You know them and religion, you have jsut called them evil, in a back-handed way). Again thank you for writing to me and I look forward to hearing from and doing buzy ness (they way they pronounce business) with you in the near future.

They think all Ooeebows (white men) are stupid and some of them take this responce letter seriously, I roar with laughter at some of the responses I get. So now they get nothing from me and I get some real good free laughs

Does anyone remember what local commerce is? Any one no what cash is? They can't scam simple people. The greed credit loving americans they do love.

The amazing thing to me is, these scammers are spotted so quickly now... not like the way it was several years ago... that they are flagged almost immediately and people know to avoid them.

Anyone dumb enough to be caught by one of their scams, deserves whatever they get.

If your friends are stupid enough to still be falling for this then you should probably find some smarter friends
