Can I break my lease when burglarized? |
I have had my car and my apartment broken into within a week and half from each other. I no longer feel safe and want to move. I want to know, can I get my security deposit back in this situation? Could you stop paying your mortgage when burglarized? No, and no you can not break your lease. yes you should be able to. and the landlord should be more than understanding in a situation as this. I would say it depends solely on your landlord. I would discuss what your options are with him or her and go from there. Some landlords could be very understanding, and some could not. Perhaps you two could make an agreement? Good luck! Check your agreement or contract, there is usually an escape clause in it and your reason certainly sounds extreme enough to be granted a discontinuance of the contract or agreement.
