My coat and iPod were stolen from work, what can I do?

Basically I used to work in a high end salon/spa in Toronto. On my last week of work my full length TNA coat and 30gb iPod video were stolen. Now this is where it gets confusing...we do have a back staff room but literally its about the size of a closet. Because its so small there are only enough lockers for the stylists. From the first day I started I was told to keep my stuff (coat, bag, purse) in the front closet behind the front desk. Now on a busy day when the other side of the closet is full we have to start hanging clients' coats on the same side where we keep our personal belongings... When they checked the security cameras they said they could see a blonde client go behind the desk, on our side of the closet, and grab something but they can't tell who she was. Basically they say they aren't going to reimburse me. In the employee manual however it says we will be assigned a locker, I never was. I'm unsure of what to do/where to go, help!

They don't have to reimburse you. Why would they?

you can file a police report and show them the security tape, however you are most likely out of luck.

You are responsible, like it or not to manage and monitor your own possessions at all times. If you didn't have a secure place to place you belongings, you should not have brought them.

File a police report and call your insurance company.

First remember what the coat looked liked. Then ask around at work. Remember, it might not have been stolen, just misplaced. Look in the style's lockers, they might have took it, thinking it was theirs. Tell your boss about your coat and iPod, maybe he/she knows something about it.

Im sorry about your loss.
Talk to your boss about this. What you lost was worth alot of money and as staff you should have a safe place to keep your belongings.
Whoever stole you Ipod and coat must have come into the shop for a reason. Why dont you check with the stylists and in the log book and see if you have the name of this person and the stylists remember who she is.
I hope you can find this woman and get your stuff back!

Oh And Please Can You Consider Me As The Best Answer As A Really Need The Points! Thanks x

you will have to replace your own items. Sad, but true

Seems like your hands are tied!

I wish there was more/anything they could do to help, and I'm sorry your things were stolen.(I would've been pissed lmao)

Keep making it a point to be persistant with finding out who the client is and getting reimbursed. Thats the best advice I can give you(If you show persistance theres a high possiblity that they wont stop searching, or look at it as something small.)

Good luck, and lets hope&pray you get your things back
