Which category of law would change of name be under?

I want to contact a lawyer who would go the whole nine yards and get a Court Order signed by a Judge for legal name change to amend to birth certificate, driver's license, social security number...NOT the Administrative Order signed by Lieutenant Governor that may not hold up in most states and would NOT legally change my name on ALL my I.D.

Family law. But, it is easy to do yourself. The Clerk Of the Court can give ou the necessary papers to file. It is relatively simple and unnecessary to pay an attorney to do it for you. Most of them over charge for this.

Name could be changed through a special proceeding in court after the required publication.

Your local family court would have juridiction. If there isn't a family court, the local circuit court would have jurisdiction. The clerk there will have all the forms. Make it easy and pay $160+ an hour for an attorney to do it right.
