Is woodland securities group a legitimate company? |
I have entered a poetry contest. Was told I won along with 10 other people to split $1,000,000.00. I was sent a check for $3,660.43 and told to deposit this chick to cover the cost of a surcharge. This cost was covered by the sponsor because by law I should not have to pay for my prize money of $100,000.00. I have deposited the first check and now woodland securities group wants me to send a check to them for the same amount to cover the surcharge. I searched the web to see if this might be a scam. I found nothing BUT also could not find anything on woodland securities group. any info would be helpful. thank you No, it is not!!! I also recieved a letter stating the same thing and I also got a check for the same amount as you did. My check was supposedly from a "sponsor" called Arizona Public Services, or APS. Being skeptical just like you, I went online to check it out and couldn't find anything on the Woodland Securities Group. That set off some red flags for me and I went to look into the APS (the company who sent me the check) and they are a valid company. It turns out that this is a major power/electricity company in Arizona and so I called APS and the representative I talked to (his name was Adam) said that they have been recieving a lot of calls on this and that the check is a fraud and he transferred me to a Mr. Amos's voicemail, told me to leave a message including my name and a telephone # to contact me back at. Adam said that they would probably be requesting that I fax them a copy of the check so that Mr. Amos could continue the fraud investigation. If at all possible, I would suggest contacting the company who sent you the check to let them know that you have just discovered this was a scam. Also, I would NOT, under any circumstances, send ANY money to Woodland Securities Group. They are a total scam!!! I am planning on calling my "contest manager" from Woodland Securities Group and listening to what they have to say and then telling them that I have already contacted APS and know that they are running a scam. I repeat, do NOT send Woodland Securities Group ANYTHING!!! so if i put the one check in my account, it will be cashed and will be mine or what?? is the check that they sent me good ?? and if i dont send them money back its my money eh? Report It this thin has scam written all over it. did the check actually cash in your account? I received this same letter and check in the mail today, 5/5/07. |
