What do you think about security (a.k.a. rent-a-cop) companies?

Many of them operate on the edge of what is permissible in terms of work standards.

Employees often are sent on jobs ill-equipped and with inadequate contingency measures should an emergency situation arise.

Security workers often are exposed to a level of danger beyond what could be expected from the nature of the job. A number of employees of security companies have met with untimely deaths or violence either on or returning from their jobs.

When volunteers get put on security jobs, they are often the ones who are being targeted to be hunted down by the System. Places that use or solicit volunteers often notoriously rob them. It is like, by the law of the System, which operates backwards, the one who is put in charge of security is the one who is put in danger and has his or her security taken away..

Editor@..., I have no need to look at this video. I have watched it a number of times. It is totally disgusting, isn't it? You might in some ways be able to compare the position of some of the security employees with that of the victim of the tasering incident (which is one of a number of them). The places that are supposed to give people security take it away.

Agree it's a terrifying concept - the notion of privatized war. Nevertheless, city council has embraced it here in Vancouver to attack the junkies and street others who seem to increase each year despite efforts -albeit half-hearted - to assist via social outreach programs. Of course, maybe private soldiers are better trained than our cops, who are inordinately fond of fatal tasering of just about anyone, it seems. Here's how Canada recently welcomed a guy from Poland:
