Social security and national gaurd death benefits?

my father died a few years back he was 64 and a vet from the national gaurd do the surviving children get anything from the national gaurd or social security for funeral expenses or anything they are all grown children at time of death

The social security and national guard death benefit will pass on if it belong to his general will when he died and it will be pass to his next of kin including children.

If your father had a "life insurance" with the National Guard, whoever was on the beneficiary list would have been contacted. If the children were not contacted, then no "life insurance" was purchased by the father.

If the children were "minors" at the time of the passing, then the children and the wife (if any) would have been entitled to his Social Security Benefits. Social Security would have also paid for the funeral the expenses.

If their was no "life insurance" or the children were not "minors" as I explained above, then the answer is "no", the National Guard or the Social Security administration did not have to pay for the funeral expenses.
