If America increases her security at her own seaports?

Then I have to ask: What is the liability of Canada鈥檚 or maybe Mexico鈥檚 seaports not being secured and hazardous or maybe WMD cargo being shipped there and smuggled across our borders, to strike a U.S. city in a new, bigger than 9/11 terrorist attack?

We don鈥檛 live in a bubble anymore, protected by moats of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I believe America鈥檚 security counts on coordinating efforts with Mexico and Canada to make sure their incoming shipping cargo is safe as well. Should such a policy be pursued, or is the U.S. just looking like an overgrown Chicken Little?

BTW, on another note it is said that Pakistan鈥檚 nuclear hero A.Q. Khan might have taught his nuclear know how to rogue states and radical groups. How big of an impact can that play in America鈥檚 security in the future?

Well no one really has an answer for this. What you will get is speculation.

It stands to reason that if Canada and Mexico have less restricted ports that those points would be likely targets for terrorists, smugglers, etc.

My opinion is that increased intelligence (spying if you will) would be a much better countermeasure than increased security at ports. If you know what is going on then you can have security deployed at the appropriate points and times and achieve much greater success.

Intelligence would also be a better safeguard against the scenario you suggest regarding A.Q. Khan.

Go to bed!
