My birth certificite dosent match my social security card, Can anyone help me fix it?

I just turned 16 and I can't get my license because when I was born my dad wasn't at the hospital to sign the papers, so I took my moms maiden name (they weren't married at the time). Then when I was 5 my parents got married and they wanted everyone to have the same last name, so they tried to get my last name changed to my dads last name, but the people down at the social security office only changed my birth certificate and not my social security card, we've went through laywer after laywer and none say they can help, we can't find the lady that goofed up and there no way I can get my license without 2 forms of identification which I don't have. Does anyone know anyone I can talk to that can help me? I've talked to the social security office, and they said they can't help me. Laywer's can't help me and my mom dosent know what to do. can someone please help me?

everyone is not helping much, I guess i just need someone who has gone through this not to sound mean but no one really understands how hard this is, its not as easy as getting it changed, you need 2 forms of identification to change your name, and same with getting married, getting your license, buying a house or a car. the laywers said no one has ever gone through this but I'm just asking for the sake of asking has anyone?

I have a way for you, but it is not the easiest. Simply you can officially change your name. When you do that , all the other official papers has to change too.
go to www.namechangelaw.com and they will guide you. You don't have to have major change.. adjust middle name or last name.. add a letter or two to your first name etc.. but it is piece of cake versus all this headache you are going through.
Good luck.

I have the same similar probelm but, My middle name on my birth certificate is Jayme and SSC is Jayne. They misread my Mothers hand writting! I have not had a problem yet. Although, one person has pointed it out to me. Report It

I do not know but do NOT, whatever you do, trust anyone on the Internet. Do all these things in person; never give your info (SSN, etc.) to anyone on here.

I have no ideas, you covered the bases. I would bother the social security folk again.

Courts usually help people fix birth certificates, so you may want to contact your local court and ask the clerk where to file a request to amend your birth certificate. You may be too young to file anything with the court, so it sounds like you do need to get your mom involved at some point. There is a lot of information that you can probably get with a call to your local court.

A directory of contact information for most courts is available at the link below. In the "Courts Online" section, there are links to legal information and other legal resources that may be helpful.

Something doesn't sound quite right about the situation you describe because I do not think that the Social Security Administration can change birth certificates. Even though you have consulted with lawyers, you may not have found one with the right experience to actually help you. I cannot give you any advice other than to find a lawyer or other advocate with experience handling this kind of issue.

There are links to legal assistance organizations listed by state at the link below as well. There may be legal clinics or telephone advice lines that you can contact for free to see if you can find further information and ideas about how to fix this.

If your birth certificate says your correct legal name, then there was a motion to change your legal name. Goto the county court house where they filed that paperwork and supply it to the Social Security office.
