Is working without a social security number illegal?

I am a legal immigrant to this country, but i dont have a social security number yet, my father is the only one with a working permit, so i was wondering if getting a job that doesnt ask for a social security number is illegal???

If you are legal you should be able to get a Soc Sec # or work visa. Ask your father to help you out.

yes to some degree. you won't get a real job without one. they will ask. but if you get a meager job for cash and you don't make enough to pay taxes who cares. hell, if you are a drug dealer just buy tax stamps. the IRS won't bother you and the feds won't know you are dealing
