What is more important to Americans, Freedom or Security? |
My Opinion: Hi i am 15 and live in northern minnesota. I was wondering what some other opinions are on this subject? For me i would say they are about 50/50 but when americans want freedom they are sacrificing some security and when they want security they are secrificing freedom. example if america wanted security more than freedom then one thing the govt. could do is take all guns reducing the amount of freedom. You dig? You are CORRECT! And very aware for being 15 (maybe there's hope for our country's future after all)!! Oh my, don't you realize that the government can't take hidden/concealed guns. Also, the secretive black market allows people to buy guns illegally and covertly. Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one. - Ben Franklin Report It freedom Yep I would def have to say though that I would much rather have freedom. "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose" I personally would rather give up security to have my freedom back. It is just wrong to erode the constitution in the name of security. "Secured Freedom" For me it is freedom. Unfortunately for most Americans it is security, otherwise the Patriot Act never would have passed. americans are just greedy, and self centered.. thats my opinion. obviously security ,judging by the answers here ,and the actions of the government ,that are accepted by the public It seems security is more important, or has been more important, over the past 6 years, ever since 9/11. Taking guns increases security? The education department has succeeded in your state (sarcasm). th answer depends on the circumstance: we are always entitled to freedom to live and not feel infringed/discriminated against. As long as the laws passsed for security do not infringe upon our freedom in this regard then there is no conflict between the two Americans prefer security over everything. Look at recent legislation. It all gets passed without a change in voting habits. Its just like chavez his people vote for a socialist/communist model. We vote for a Fascist model (strong centralized government/military focused). That's an excellent question. My first thought was "freedom". But without security, what good is freedom? I think it was Benjamin Franklin that once said, "He who sacrifices security for freedom winds up with neither". |
