Should the Blackwater security company be hired to enforce American laws here in the US?

By hiring a private security firm, the whitehouse could sidestep the Constitution (just as it has the Geneva convention abroad).

I think it's a great idea myself, who needs due process, anyway.

Only if we want to continue reverting to a facist state.

Yes, you sound like a great American.

I know you must be proud of your Speaker of the House.

Why would anyone want to give G W Bush a private army paid by the taxpayers? If that happens we can kiss the November 2008 elections goodbye. And hello open fascism in the US.

The early police forces were simply a group of tough but honest men hired by all a City's taxpayers to enforce the laws. Watch a cowboy movie with a sherriff in it.
So, I like your idea. If law enforcement were a normal business, it would become efficient.
But if nation's government hired a huge firm of thugs to enforce unpopular laws, we would get a praetorian guard, like in the days of Ancient Rome, with all the consequent evils.
So, I suggest directly elected and paid local police, and fewer Feds.

I agree with the last user on ancient Rome. Having a private security company responsible for us is an issue. You are saying its the federal government respnsibility to keep our peace, which yes is true, however, it is also the responsibility of the people to revolt against the government when they are opressed as what happened in the American Revolution and Civil War. If this happens, it would not be hard to imagine that the National Guard of the states will be in a war against the private security companies to act in the interest of what the people want and not what the government wants.
