Petition about Social security and illegal aliens is it real?

Mr. President and Gentlemen:

The petition below is a protest against what the Senate voted on
recently which allows illegal's to access our social security! We demand
that you and all congressional representatives require citizenship for
anyone to be eligible for social services in the United States

To get social security benefits, the person seeking benefits or a close relative of that person must pay into the system. (For example a widow can get benefits based her husband's work record. - or a child of a deceased parent who paid into the system can get benefits while he or she is still in school.). Social security is not welfare. Immigration status is irrelevant to social security. In addition, there are many people in the U.S. legally who are not citizens (permanent residents with Green Cards) - Also a person may pay into the social security system while working in the U.S. legally on a temporary visa that permits work. And a person who is not a legal alien may have children or a spouse who are citizens.

If a person is an illegal alien, he can be deported, and if he repeatedly enters the country illegally after being deported, he can be prosecuted criminally. That does not mean his paid for pension benefits should automatically be confiscated.
