Why does it take so long to get Social Security even you are already disabled?

Does anyone know why it take such a long to get Social Security even you are already disablied? Why such a long wait for it? Why do they make people wait for so long? What all does Social Security do with each person's application for Social Security during this time? I've yet to see a doctor(s) about my disabiliy and they have not given me a appoitment date to them yet.

There are millions of people like you throughout the country and so many Social Security and State Disability employees to handle paperwork.

From application to first check took me 7 months for a mental disorder. Provide as much information as you can about doctors and past jobs.

It literally can take months. (6 months is not unheard of)

Most people who apply for SS get turned down initially.

Then you have to go to a hearing and even then they don't always award it.

They make you wait 6 months this is everybody. They will send you to a doctor who will examine you and ask you why do you think you are disabled. If you are approved for SSI they will next ask what is your mortgage is or to others what was your rent for the past 6 months. They will send you a check based on that information.Than you will get a check every 3rd of the month. You can get direct deposit or have them mail it to you.It takes 6 months.

Dear doc...just remember this is a government agency, and the workers do not want to over earn their money!!! I've already had my doc appointments, testing and everything that they require (except the kitchen sink) and I'm still waiting on their decision, and it's been 2 months since the last test.
