What age does social security end? |
When I turned 16 my social security benifits ended. I had gotten ss origionally cuz my dad had died. i was still in hight school when it stopped that wasn't YOUR benifiets. they were your dads. your's havent started yet. The rule is 18 OR OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL----either your's ended ERRONEOUSLY or a parent is still getting it and NOT telling you.... I'd call your LOCAL Social Security Administration, have YOUR social security number AND your FATHER's ready when you make that call.....you are supposed to start receiving benefits directly after the death of your father and they SHOULD continue until you are 18 or out of high school....my son collected from the time he was BORN until he was 19 because he was still in school. and YES, these check USUALLY go to the surviving spouse BUT the name of the CHILD is on the checks ALWAYS... so these checks WOULD be for YOU but used by your surviving parent FOR YOU...but call anyway.... Normally they continue until age 18. I thought it was at least 18 for a minor in your situation. Google "social security" you should be able to find out online. If not call the local office. They can tell you. Good luck. that was your dad's benifits. |
