Question about my social security number?? |
okay i want to sign up for cafepress to raise money for a laptop, but it needs your social security number. i trust the website, but my parents probably wouldnt let me give it to them. i know my parents know it, not by heart but in a file somewhere, i've looked all around their room and i cant find it. so how can i get them to tell it to me? like trick them into doing it? because if they knew what i was doing theyd definately not give it to me. no, you dont have to be 18. im 13, and i didnt lie about my age, and it let me in. Write to the government. just ask them to tell you so you can know for later use. if you are under 18 you don't need to know your SSN, to sign up at cafepress would require you to be over 18, so wait until you are 18 to ask your parents. You never said how old you are. Never click on a website given you, but go to your address bar and type the domain address, and if it is secured, the web address you will be shown will begin with https:// and not http://. As for tricking your parents into getting your social security number, I am not sure what to say. But if you are indeed applying for a job, you must have it so your parents cannot deny you that. Go to IRS.gov, get an EIN, make yourself a business, then post the EIN like a social security number, the form you need is a SS4, you may not have employees yet, but someday. In that case you would be betraying your parents trust if you find it and use it. I'm sure you expect them to trust you, but why should they when you are being so sneaky and trying to do something they won't approve of. Give it up. Your parents know best about lots of things and you should learn from them. Never give your social security out to internet sites. You just go to the nearest Social Security Office and request for the replacement of your SSN card. In that case, you will know your SSN. Tell them too that you do not know your SSN. They will help you find it. Don't forget to bring any identification card, like state ID or driver's license, passport and or birth certificate to establish your identity. Many people have the same name that is why the Social Security Office will make it sure that they will provide you your correct SSN and SSN Card. The reason for NOT allowing minors to sign up for such things (if they were valid) is that minors don't have the experience to recognize a probable scam or attempt at identity theft. |
