My brother recieves social security claiming he is retarded.He drives a truck,cleans,care giver to his mom?

my mom is 73 unable to walk,my brother sorts out her medicine puts them in pill boxes and helps her in and out of bed.He even helps his nephew deliver news papers.Yet when he recieves papers from social security he claims he can do nothing for himself.I can't believe he can get away with this.

What are you doing for your mom?

This is a difficult moral dilemma. Should you turn your brother in to SS, who will take care of your Mom, who really IS incapacitated?

I hope he goes to prison and you to for not reporting him. It is nice that he does all that but what if every body did that? Tell him to stop doing that.

Im a Disabled person myself (I have High Functioning Autism), I am intellegent though as you can tell and while I have no objection to a truly Disabled person getting benefits, I am so against the idea of people who are not Disabled at all managing to get Disability.

Fraud like that makes it hard for truly disabled people to get benefits.

While there are some with Mental Retardation who actually can drive (one of my Uncles was one of them yet he actually worked a paying job rather than getting Disability money, he even had enough disposable income to be able to offer loads of cash to people including that one time he gave my Mom $2000 in cash, he use to offer to pay $25 if you could drink a bottle of Tabasco Sauce, unfortunately he was murdered in 1987 by a Sociopath for whatelse, my Uncle's money).

While it is good that some people with MR can drive a Car anyways, it does totally suck when there are those who are not even Disabled at all who pretend to be Disabled.

Hi. He may "claim" retardation, but remember, others reviewed and approved his application. If his retardation is that bad, I find it difficult to believe someone would hire him. Helping Mom, well I commed him. Helping deliver newspapers is not so bad, gives him something to do. As far as getting away "with this", I know if you get Soc. Sec. in Maine, would think it's nationwide, but, You are allowed to make up to $800/mo before it affects your entitlement.
