Why do people think that all Hotel security officers are a joke? it happened again 2nd night in row!!?

please see
What makes grown people act like children when they are staying at a hotel? that i posted last night

ok here we go again. why parents rent hotel rooms for kids to throw partys, in nice 5 star resorts is beyond me. Tonight i had another incident with some 20 year old punk that thinks Hotel security is a joke...these kids where throwing objects from there balcony onto incoming traffic. and ended up smashing a ladies windshield. I go out to Investagate and they throw a beer bottle at me.i guess they thought i was just someone passing by...anyone know what parents are teaching kids now adays? so anyway police are called and all the little idiots are evicted from the hotel. On their way out , this little wanna be tough guy decided sense the cops werent around anymore that he could pick a fight with the hotel security. ...ME!

Now I am an X-marine and any Marine will tell you that when you get in a Marine鈥檚 face and lay your hands on them you better be ready to get ROCKED. And yup that鈥檚 what happened. So this all started form punk *** kid throwing beer bottles at cars and ended up with a little punk *** kid leaving in an Ambulance and going to jail. Then I had to go down to the police station and fill out all kinds of paperwork and get my picture taken in case the DA wants to press charges. Something about the severity of his injuries Anyone else see the Logic in this? I mean this 20 year old punk could have killed someone tonight. Then after that he wants to fight me? and ends up at the hospital and now he is in jail鈥? Someone please tell me what the hell is going on? Turns out I ripped one of his ear rings outs 鈥hich I found later I think ill take it home and mount it鈥he police officers even laughed at me when I asked if he was ok鈥hey told me his nose was broken..

be proud of what you do!!

i have to stay in hotels alot and i call you guys up all the time to save me from annoying shits next door.

the reason they would press charges is probably becuase of the military training, have you ever seen con air? basically with military training your hands come under the category 'deadly weapons' it would be the same is if you hit him with a baseball bat.

You did great; keep going like this. In these days there are too many young people when they have a certain type of fun, practically they put in jeopardy the others people quiet life. Keep giving them the lesson they deserve. Report It

the deadly weapons bit was a compliment ^-^ Report It

Maybe the Mall Police can back you up.

Blame the hotel who are so greedy that they allow punk parties in the first place. Then blame the parents most of whom were party animals themselves and see nothing wrong with destroying property and threatening people and getting drunker than skunks. Then blame the kids who really believe that they can do anything and get away with it.

Your training might have served you well in the corps, but in this world, you might well be charged with a crime. A hotel security officer has the same authority as a citizen to protect himself and the property. Nothing more. When someone gets in your face and lays hands upon you, you are authorized to use reasonable force that is necessary to make an arrest, or to defend yourself. Where most folks get self-defense wrong, as you did, is by seeing it as a license for redressing wrongs. It is not. Self-defense is always preventive, using force that is necessary to prevent an injury in the immediate future. If the force is retaliatory, as you describe yours, then it is likely to be unlawful. The fact that you believe marines generally act that way, and that one ought to be prepared to be rocked if he disrepects a marine, does not make that rocking lawful. In fact, your question here is actually a confession that your use of force was retaliatory and not preventive. If the hotel sees it, expect to be fired (due to the likelihood of a civil suit against the hotel). If the DA sees it, expect to be charged with a crime.
I don't propose to tell you how you should have handled the situation. That is between you and your employer. I only suggest that retaliatory use of force can be a crime and can get you and your employer sued for damages. Given the cost of health care, I would expect a significant lawsuit.
