What happens to someones Social Security if they were a legal immigrant, but got deported?

My ex-husband was a legal resident for 23 years of the US. He was deported for a domestic violence charge. I was wondering what happens to all his Social Security he has paid?

I believe it will be paid to him where ever he lives as long as he informs the SS department of his new address. The crime/reason for deportation doesn't diminish his social security benefits.

Well i sure hope it goes into OUR social security pool.

It goes to the war in Iraq.

SS is not a 'savings' type plan where you put your money into an account while you work, then withdraw it when you retire.

What you pay when you're working is a TAX that pays for the benefits of current retirees. When you retire, you get a benefit paid for by people who are still working.

There was no "his" Social Security for anything to happen to.

If he paid in for a long enough period, then he may still be entitled to collect SS benefits when he reaches retirement age.

Richard

He would still be eligible for social security benefits on his work record as would you if you qualify for higher benefits based on his earnings. Social security has nothing to with where you live unless you live in Cuba, North Korea, or a handful of other countries that the US government does not send social security benefits to.

Hope this helps

good thing he got deported. criminal scum.
