My question is about Social Security...? |
How do I go about getting information regarding my deceased father's social security. Am I entitled to collect? What's the policy??? if you are under 18 ummarried and have no children you can get it..once you get married or have a child underage they will consider you now a adult and it will stop if you are under 18 right now and start getting and continue on into college without getting married or having a child it can continue up untill you are 21..or if you are disabled and it is found that the disability started before you were 18 you can also collect it..if you are over 18 and disabled it is best to file for both your and your fathers benefits as you are likely to be approved for one or the other but not both generally if you are over 18 and not disabled or in school you are outta luck I'm very sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I just went through a similar situation. About a year ago my Mom passed away and I called the Social Security office and they told me that unless you are under 18 years of age or the spouse of the deceased, you are not eligible to collect their Social Security benefits. first thing to do is contact s.s.don't call go in person.Take all your fathers papers.i don't know how old you are.if u are a minor, yes you are entilte to his s.s.. Yeah you can collect if your disabled |
