Should people have to give up freedom for more security or give up security for more freedom?

Should the government be allowed to watch you? Or should you be allowed to do as you please? Whats more important - security or freedom? What would you be willing to give up?
I am doing a paper of this topic and kinda need some insight from different people. I'd appreciate any comments left!!

It's kind of a false dilemma. Security and freedom can coexist, it just makes it a little harder. I personally would rather be able to read, write, think, or say whatever I want without sanction than feel secure under surveillance.

Freedom is more important than security.

YEs....as a matter of fact, they're listening right now!

Personally, I will have to give up my security because I value my privacy above all. This does not mean I cannot maintain my own personal security, it just means I don't want Big Brother doing it for me. I don't trust them one bit and don't want them, or anyone else, nosing around me or my affairs without my permission. It creeps me out. Most people out there are not aware of just how much the government and law enforcement already do-I guess sometimes, ignorance really is bliss. Good question!!

It is interesting to me that freedom is what we are fighting for and yet our freedoms have diminished as the war goes on. We was guaranteed a right to privacy in the Constitution and it has been eroded in the name of patriotism. If we allow the terrorist to restrict our freedoms or alter our constitution have they not won the war.

Yes. And you'er now on the governments hit list.

Freedom is most important. There are many ways implemented to take away freedom; surveillance is just one. Terrorists who kidnap someone is taking away that person's freedom just as much as someone invading privacy. What kind of life is there without freedom? We'd be better off dead.
