Is it wrong for a male security guard to search a female? |
Couple months ago, we had this new security guard and before I left, he searched me. I told him that he wasn't suppose to do that and he said that he was new and not trainined correct. Am I suppose to tell a manager abou this? I work at FedEx and the security guard is there to make sure no one steals of course. He patted me down with his hands. Before he started, the other security guards had this device that they would use on females. But this guy didn't have it. Not only is it wrong, it's illegal. The only way they can search you is if you agree with it, but they still cannot touch you. The way they're suppose to search is by having you open your bags, empty your pockets, etc. I don't know you're states laws, but here in Texas guards are only allowed to do a pat down search for weapons only if he has a reason to. Other then that they are only allowed to search by having you show them what you have. Even if a security guard has been in that position for years, many are poorly trained. I wouldn't blame the guard for not knowing, even though its common sence that a male cannot search a female. I let whoever is in charge of security know about this and suggest that they better train him. It's in their best interest that they do, an untrained guard is a big liability. HELL YES, he was just sneaking a feel. Even when trained they are not supposed to search females. I don't know what you're supposed to do but he shouldn't be searching anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he had no female stand-by, he's an idiot. Yes, you should report him. You should also familiarize yourself with the policies, rules and regualtions governing searches. I would. It sounds shady that he said he searched you b/c he wasn't "trained correctly." Sounds skeezish. You need to use your noggin for situations like this. Just think, if male guards were allowed to search females, how many men would be lined up around the block for that job? Yes he has no right to search you. I would contact his supervisor because he will do it to another unsuspecting female. Even the police have members of the same sex conduct searches on suspects. The general rule for search should be that only the same sex searches, if a female isn't available there should be a second person there as a witness and should use the back of the hands when searching more private type areas (chest for females, crotch for men). But your protest about being searched by a male should have made him think and get a female to do the search. No he didn't try to just get a feel, only a feminist bull dyke would say something like that. Well, if it was a strip search or a cavity search, maybe it should have been a female...but like if he just patted you down or whatever, you have to assume a security guard would have a certain degree of professionalism... Absolutely! Even a female security guard does not have the right to search you. Only the police can conduct a legal personal search. Report it! Better believe it. If you're not with the FAA, you've got another think coming if you believe you can frisk my body. Check with the mgr and find out if the security guard is legally allowed to do that. What kind of search was it ? As a rule a male guard should not search a female if there is a female guard available. |
