Have we all been conned by the " security industry?"?

how many car alarms, house alarms and other various " security type" stuff have we bought because we have been frightened by hype and spin regarding crime. How many burgleries or car thefts have been prevented by expensive alarm systems? Think about it...weve been conned..!!!

Exactly. What do you think when you hear an alarm go off? You think bloody annoying alarm, and not I wonder if there is a car being robbed. Same for houses too.

Blimey

Thanks for the enlightenment..... Does't effect me though, old fashioned type me. Have a low tech tried a tested intruder biting dog, mobile, self reset function, doesn't even go off durning a thunderstorm or powercut.

Speak for yourself!

i had my truck broke into, then i got my RX7 broke into... both times they messed up my ignition... in the RX7 i found a little pair of foldable scissors broken on my floormat... the truck they stoled about $10 in change I had in the ashtray, but worst of it they totally messed my ignition up and my key didnt work, for a week every morning before work i had to fiddle with a screwdriver to start my truck... man that made me angry every morning...

i got an alram and if it went off at all hours of the night I didnt care... no one looks but I do if it goes off, and where was the neighbors when it got broke into? I actually suspected this crazy lady that smoked drugs all the time that lived across from me...her or one of her "friends"
i moved out of that neighborhood and now live in the country on an acreage... you would have to walk about a city block just to get to my cars or trucks now... and i got a dog...plus no one does that stuff out here...

we dont even lock our door when we go shopping...

but i realize the city is bad for this...

so yeah i might have fell for the alarm thing... i actually went out and bought 2 the next day after the first break in...now one of them just sits on a shelf in my garage all brand new... the other one i gave to a friend that got broken into... the noise scares the thief away... cuz now he knows an angry owner is coming :-)

or even if it takes away their time to mess up the ignition thats done the job... take my measly change... just dont break my truck so i cant use it easily until it gets fixed :-)

Anyone in any doubt about the value of alarms etc.should have no problems deciding today, the gale force wind whistling round my home as set off two car alarms, burglar alarms on two offices and three shops.Eventually the cars batteries will go flat, but the commercial property is unoccupied so I will have to endure it until the morning.

The danger is very real.

We have become prisoners in our own homes.
The criminals are on the outside.
We are on the inside.

We pay a heavy price for crime. Not just in taxes, but in insurance, alarms, nuisance alarm noise, lawyer bills, etc etc etc.

Definately need more jails.
For all you lefties out there, it would create lots of nice government jobs.

I guess your not that far wrong, in the past 15 years I have been lucky enough to never be burgled, However I do live in what I consider to be a secure house with good locks on the doors & windows & nice high walls

We have been conned by all INDUSTRIES: beauty products, fast foods, hot water heating, cars and roads; you name it, WE DON'T NEED IT. For example, I find it hilarious, people walking around with ipods while I can replay anything I like, IN MY HEAD.

Yes, you are right, but problem of crimes is always sponsored by securities product companies, insurance ones etc. to make us unsecured and force us to get help of either an insurance or a security product co.
What type of latest product is produced, the crime of same characteristic emerges specially designed for it. Some times these companies are supported by intelligence agencies as well, to promote such new item.
So we are not only conned by security industry but by govt. supported intelligence as well, "the promotion industry".
Most of the wars in the world and terrorist activities are also most of the time part of such promotion activities to promote certain product nations wide.
