What is you opinion on a school security guard/counselor to have a myspace to converse with minor students?

is it appropriate for a school official to contact minor children over the internet. i found the myspace of a school security guard on my sister's myspace as well as many other girls who attend the school. i find it inappropriate for him to contact them through myspace. what my mother found inappropriate was that he answered a bulletin that my minor sister posted asking who wanted to be her my space babe. a harmless question if it were all minors. in you opinion is this situation appropriate or in whatever case would it be appropriate.

I apprehended him on myspace through my account but his was private. i asked him why he spoke to so many young girls and he said it was none of my business and that unless i identified my self he would not give me more information. I too feel that no one can be trusted not even the teachers, neighbors, aunts, uncles. its a scary world out there. thank you

That is completely inappropriate. Contact the school board, IMMEDIATELY!

If it's just to "keep in touch" with the students, there is no need for anything personal in there such as sending messages to your sister about being her "myspace babe". Also, if she needs homework tips, it's called a short email! Further more, it's a freaking security guard, NOT her teacher.

He's an adult, he knows this isn't appropriate. If anything happens, such as getting fired, that is his own problem. You can't seriously read the news, see all these cases involving teachers or other adults with positions of trust get busted for similar violations and think "It's ok, I won't get in trouble". HE KNOWS BETTER!

It's better he be punished for something he knows he shouldn't be doing, than your family dealing with your sister being taken advantage of or raped.

Also, if you can, try to report it anonymously. Forward his account information.

Completley INAPPROPRIATE. Contact your principal! And if he/she doesnt do anything about it, contact your Board of Education. They will put a stop to that right away.

That security guard sounds like a big perv to me. I would be upset if it were my child.

Hmm I think it depends. If it helps counselors connect with the kids more than it could be good... however it does seem like it would be something where the boundaries could easily be stepped over... so I am torn.

I think this is inappropriate. My school security guard when i was a freshman in high school wanted me to "babysit" for him. My mom let me go over there- thinking hes a responsible adult working for the school, right? No- he had a bed with rose pedals all over it waiting for me....

that is pretty creepy and very inappropriate.

the only thing that i could possibly think that makes it not so creepy is he is 18 ans she is 17,and are friends at school,then maybe it is just an extension of the friendship.

however i would be very pissed if my girl when she was still in h.s. was getting propostioned or any non proffessional contact with an adult in a position of any authority over her.
