Social Security Card:??? Does it make a difference whether you carry it on your person or leave it at home?? |
thanks for all your feedback. not really, its a personal thing if you need it carry it , if you dont need it dont carry it , it's the key to the city only a fool carries a ss card with them unless they need it for ID at a job interview. LEarn the number, leave the card at home I don't believe so. The only time I carry a SS card is if I need it for business at the SS office or for a job verification. You open up yourself to identity theft if you carry it in your wallet. When I replaced my card, the staffer specifically advised that I not carry it with me, due to identity theft concerns. There is no reason to carry it with you. The only time I have ever needed mine is when I have gotten a driver's license in a new state and on the first day of a new job. Memorize the number and leave the physical card at home unless you need to show it for something like a job. You should memorize your number and keep your card in a safe place at home only take a s.s. card if neccessary because someone can still your indentity if knowing what it is, unless it is neccessary to have the s.s. card leave it somewhere safe. Dont carry it with you at all, it is not necessary. I did once when I went to India just to show it to my parents, and on my way back I lost my passport, greencard, ssn, drivers license...pretty much all my ID, and if only I had my SSN my procedures might have been easier...but I did have to go thru a lot eventually I got all of them tho...BUT DONT EVER CARRY IT :) Only because if your wallet/purse is stolen, it make the thief much easier to steal you identity! Don't carry the card with you unless you have to take care of some bussines that require to see the original copy...(for example if you are going to do your taxes or getting a job)...If you loose or it gets stolen your are going to be in deep mess.. I just keep mine in a safe at home.... |
