Social security overpayment?

I don't have the money to pay it back. I have no job. I'm going to college right now. It was not my fault that I was overpayed because I never even recieved the check. The residence that they sent it to was my past address, because I had moved out about a month before. I don't know if someone forged my name and cashed it or not, but there's no way I'm at fault. Does anybody know anything about the automatic waiver for overpayments under 500 dollars. Mine was only 328? Do you think they would waive it?

You should try to ask them to do so. If you moved before the payment was mailed there, you should provide proof of this as well. Like new lease agreements, change of addresses. You can also have them track this check. If it has been cashed, you should be able to prove you did not cash it with a signature comparison. Have you contacted someone at social security? I would if you havent already.
