Is airport security yet just another government rip-off?

With all the phoney government driver's licenses available, with your picture and any name you want, why do ligitimate people have to produce ID at the airport?

I really enjoy taking my shoes of, especially when it's been snowing, and walking in my socks through a scan. I also find it an amusing use of my time to take my laptop out of its bag.

If you add up travelers per year x time per traveler to just deal with this, the enemy has won a major economic blow against us.

NO !

For the same reason you produce ID when buying beer. Many criminals are stupid, stupid people. This minimum barrier to producing ID which you probably have anyway will stop some criminals.

Isn't the Bush administaration going to turn that over the the Saudi's as well? Just like shipping.

I don't get it, Osama bin Laden is a Saudi, almost all of the hijackers were, we go to war with Iraq, and turn our security over to the people who flew the airliners into the twin towers.

So while they are providing security my state is starting the Federal Drivers License program. Thanks Goerge, make the government smaller, right??

Makes perfect sense to Bush so it must be the right thing to do, after all, they paid for all his failed companies while he was boozing.

i dont think it is at all, its a safety tactic so that we wont be hit by another terroristic act, if u noticed after 9/11 everything has become extra strict!!

would you rather they just let anyone go into the airport and board the plain? at least this way they keep records, and if for some reason one person on every flight used a fake ID, the would be able to pick out the one person who didnt have a valid ID.

it can use some improvements
