Are private security allowed to carry guns around public places in California? |
I'm researching for a piece of schoolwork - would a bodyguard in L.A. be legally allowed to carry a gun in a public place? Yes, if they have applied for and passed a firearms course designed for security guards. IF they haven't, then they cannot. Google California State Gun and posession laws. It's all there. If they have a permit to carry, in LA. In SF, maybe. But most citizens can't. But I know in Redding, they can if they have a permit. You could, perhaps interview someone whose a security guard, about it- for best results one whose a supervisor of guards in a mall. I did that once. |
