I got my wallet stolen, which had my social security card in it. advice?

My wallet had my school ID, license (from a different state), and social security card in it. The thief, in which I am POSITIVE is a kid, perhaps around 18-21 tried to use my debit card twice without knowing the pin, obviously I canceled all my cards! I strongly believe whoever has my wallet is some retard, God I hope so.
I am really worried about my SSN card though since it has that damn number that everyone asks for. I've always had that card in my wallet ever since I was 13 , and parents didn't give me some serious talk about it. How can I defend myself if someone calls me regarding crap I didn't buy? what is my proof, etc..

I have already alerted the Credit Bureau, police know about this, but I don't know I feel insecure at the moment..

You need to notify the Social Security Administration, let themknow your Social security card was stolen and ask them what you should do.

I'd recommend asking for a new Social security number. Then you don't have to worry about identity theft.

With him having your ID, and SSN he could easily apply for credit cards in your name (that would be cake with all the information in your wallet). He could do online applications for credit and really screw you over. Notify SSA (social security administration and ask them what to do)

write to the social security administration, save your police report. etc. you might need it , if the kid that have your card is not a retard..

Contact the Social Security office, let them know what's going on, and try to get a new number.

You need to call Social Security. I'm not sure what they can do about it. But I'm sure there is something. You better do it soon before they start opening accounts under your name and steal your identity.

Contact the 3 credit Bureaus. report your Social Security card stolen and they will then make a report for Identity theft therefore preventing you from being liable for the next 7 years.

Firstly, go make out a police report. Second, contact the social security administration nearest you. Most likely in a federal office/court house building. Request a copy of your card. you will need valid I.D. Thirdly check with any credit bureau's to be certain someone is not trying to use your soc sec number. Finally Do not put that damn card in your wallet lock it up in a safe/fire box or a safety deposit box at your bank.

I had gone through this before my self. Enjoy.
