Is your Social Security number printed on your birth certificate? |
How do I find it? I only have my birth certificate and no longer live in the USA. No, it is not. Of course not. You don't get it till AFTER you are born. no because it is issued after birth. You don't have a SSN at the time of birth, and it's possible that you never had one issued in your name. You'll have to find another way to facilitate whatever scheme you have in mind. You may not have a Social Security number. Your parents would have had to apply for you and if they did not, then you would have never been assigned one. If you are an American Citizen then simply apply for one with the Social Security Administration. They will require proof of your citizenship for which a birth cirtificate should suffice. No it is not on your birth certificate - since you moved out of the US at the age of 5, I hope it was with your family or at least part of your family. One does not get a social security number until ones parents apply for it through the social security administration. Since you had to ask the question I would gather you have not seen your birth certificate....find out who has this important document, put it in a "safe" place, for you will need access to it later in life. If you have proof of American citizenship, go to the local American consulate or embassy to ask for assistance in applying for a Social Security card. When I was coming up a person didn't need a social security number until they got a job.
