Are there different types of liens for the State of Texas? |
I thought a mechanic's lien was for mechanics, but it is starting to appear it is only for contractors/suppliers working on real property. What rights or liens are there for mechanics that work on people's vehicles and they do not pay? I did the work at the person's house and now they will not pay their bills. Is there anything I can do to file a lien on their property? Going to small claims court even if it is decided in your favor, they don't have to pay, so forget smalls claims court. Under Texas law, a mechanic has a lien on a car to cover the cost of repairs. This means that until the mechanic is paid, he can keep the car. He also has the right to charge a reasonable fee for storage. If he is not paid, he has the right to sell the car and apply the proceeds to what is owed. I posted it in the other question. There are mechanic's liens for vehicle services. Contact the county clerk's office for specifics on how to file |
