Any suggestion on how to get a local gas company to quit sending me a bill for propane that I canceled?

Seven days after I cancelled they came on my property, without my knowlege or consent and put the gas my tank. I called the manger and she said they would come and draw it out. They never did. In Feb. I received a bill. I called the owner, who refused to come and get his gas, but told me to forget the bill. On March I, received another bill, this time they charged me a finance charge. I called and got very upset with the owner. He said that they had been very busy and just hadn't had time to draw it out. I also asked him to deleate the gas bill off my account. He said he couldn't just do that. I told him he had better not send me another bill. He told me not to call his company anymore. I think he will keep on sending me a bill. I told him that I was going to report him to the Attorney General, he said if I did the Attorney General would laugh at me after he talked to him.

Any real advice? Other than paying for gas I do not owe? Needed gas bad, they couldn't deliver fast enough.

A few things you could do.

option 1 Build a case.
You absolutely want to get things out in writing so I would send a certified letter (Return Receipt Requested to prove they received it) to the company with a complete explanation of the occurances, (the condensed history of the problem) when you cancelled the account, when the shipment came, the numerous times you contacted the company to draw out the gas and their statement to forget the bill. Make sure you mention who you spoke to if it was the owner address the letter to him and mention in the lettter that it was he who suggested ignoring the bill. Be professional do not use angry language but end with a sentence similar to " I consider this matter closed and do not expect to receive another bill for this cancelled service. Any further communincations especially any that could damage my credit will be immediately responded to by my attorney". Usually the threat of legal representation does the trick. I have used this type of letter in a similar instance and it did work. If Not.....

Option 2 you possibly could get an attorney to follow-up with a letter for a small fee on their letterhead. I had one type one up for me cost was around 40 bucks at the time (awhile ago)

Option 3 Call the attorney General they most likely will not laugh at you and if they cannot help they may have alternative suggestions.

Hope this helps

Sue them. You should be able to settle this in small claims court.

Find their website. Send an email to every single email address on their site. The same email. Eventually you'll get a response from someone that can actually, or will actually get off their #ss and do something for you.

You could try filing in small claims court- but it might be easier to pay the bill and move on.

Small claims court can only award money, not property or actions, so they can't *make* the gas company come get your gas, but the company can file a counter-claim against you for the price of the gas, late fees, fines, and the court costs.

If you buy the gas from them regularly anyway, then ask them to postpone the bill until about the time you would have re-ordered anyway.

That seems like a fair compromise worth exploring.

After that however, I hope there is another provider in your area, because don't expect this place to want to service you again.

Contact an attorney and he/she will probably be able to draft a demand letter for your demanding the removal of the charge and gas and threaten legal action if they do not comply. Usually that is enough for them to get into action.
