LISTEN TO THIS ONE NOT THE OTHER ONE.....A law was passed prohibiting smoking in the car with.................

kids 6 and under. My point is that is someones right to smoke in THEIR own vehicle with whomever they chose, just as its your right to smoke in your house. It is personal property, not government. And for those to argue that. Yes, the roads are government but so is 20 feet out most of front doors. Fact of the matter is that this is a good thing for kids but at the same time what do you think of the land of the FREE not being so free. Alcohol should be a bigger factor. They should ban it if they want to ban something, smoking a cigarette does not impare judgment matter of fact some of the people who smoke amd cant in their cars may get arratic. But drinking alcohol which is served at bars, restaraunts and so forth allow you to take the lives of everyone on the road in the hands of a FOOL. People are how people are not everyone agrees with everything, gays cant get married b/c the bible says no but at the same time its your right not to believe in the bible. Come on, get real. CRAZINESS

actually those people smoke, drinks, act fools and crazy is because of the pressure from the LAWS.

But the government has to pay for your kid when he gets cancer because you had him in your car while you smoked. Report It

Do you really expect us to believe such a law exists? What state? When was it passed? Report It

I agree that the government is touching too much in our personal lives.I smoke and I think it's ridiculous that in California you can't smoke even OUTSIDE in a public place.Thank goodness I live in Texas. It is craziness.

As a smoker, I think you would have to be an a$$hole to smoke with a child in the car.

I was going to argue the right of the parent to smoke with their child in their car, but I can't.... its child endangerment...

You have no more right to expose your child to cigarette smoke as you do to force them to eat lead paint, or inhale brake dust.

What if the smoker never rolled their windows down, and hotboxed the vehicle? That could even be abuse...

I'm actually stunned that you even have to raise this point. I'm a smoker. And I'm not real pleased with all of the restrictions prohibiting me from smoking in public places. HOWEVER... To smoke in an enclosed space as small as a vehicle in the presence of ANYONE who doesn't like it, or consent to it, is WRONG. And children either don't KNOW that it's bad for them, or can't object.

As an adult, I've been exposed to all of the warnings, and have the right to make a decision whether or not to smoke. Children don't have the benefit of that experience.

This is really no different than the seatbelt and child restraint laws. The arguement can be made that the government has NO RIGHT to force me to wear a seatbelt. As an adult, I know the risks, and should have the freedom to choose whether or not to wear one. The only person that refusing to do so hurts is ME. But car seats are a different story. A child doesn't know any better. Nothing ticks me off more than seeing a parent driving along, with their little one(s) roaming around free and unrestrained in a vehicle, unless of course that parent is smoking, too.

OK I smoke and yes it is really pushing it for BIG BROTHER to tell us when and where we can smoke. BUT and I do mean BUT People need to use common sense, my son has Asthma and I don't smoke in the car or in the house or around him at all
Little kids asthma or not are fragile little lungs ...so on
We smoke because we like it and we are addicted but we need to respect others around us who don't but still they are taking this smoking thing a little to far
