Why do we have Politicians?

120 of the 383 pieces of legislation signed into law by Congress (2005-2006) was naming properties after public figures. If one listens to a debate, its sounds like a couple bickering. There is no oversight of the President, he gets what he wants, if he is liked, if not, he doesn't get a thing. Spending is out of control. Real work is done in committies, which usually just use common sense and no facts. Could just a bunch of accountants and specialists prepare decision sheets, and the public votes on it, based on facts.

We have politicians to be the "voice of the people." However, leaders of a government threaten to veto anything without having any regard to subject matter experts are not doing what they originally obliged to do; serve the people. We have commissions and experts to survey situations. Congress seems to be paying attention to them but our highers aren't.

We have politicians to show us what liars look like.

Because we are all a bunch of masochists who seem to enjoy being abused by others "in power". Do any of us commoners really have a choice about what kind of government/tyranny we live under? Is there any way we can have any influence on the way our politicians act "on our behalf"? I didn't vote for any of the schmucks in Congress or the White House and they still managed to lie, cheat, and steal their way into power. We are all powerless to change the way things are on a national scale, but we can change the world by making our own little sphere of influence as peaceful and honest as possible, thus positively influencing others around us and perhaps inspiring them to do the same in kind.
We have politicians because few of us have enough faith in ourselves to make our own decisions and decide our own futures.

We have politicians for the same reason we have cynics.
