Can a firm that drew up a trust represent one the beneficiaries when the trustor dies? california?

professional responsibility

Yes, but only if the representative can prove that there is not a conflict of interest or unless otherwise stipulated in the trust.

The firm is required only to represent the intentions of the trustor in the capacity that was held when the trustor was living. However, if the beneficiary is attempting to overturn any portion of the trust, they will have to seek other council. The firm is required to stay true to the intent of the trust.
