Doing Probate myself |
I have just lost my dad. I have been told I can do probate myself to save on solicitors' fees. I have the will, I am an only child and everything is coming to me. Never having done this before, I haven't a clue what to do. Can anyone help please by telling me where I get the forms from and what they need to know. I have just finished doing it...you need to get in touch with the probate office...they will tell you every move you need to make, I think it will be very easy for you as you are the only beneficiary, If you do come across anything that you are not really sure of , then talk to a solicitor. Start with the county probate office. Remember if you need help from a lawyer, the fees can be charged back to the estate, so don't be afraid to ask for help. For the most part, it sounds like a pretty simple estate. I don't know where you are located but here in the United States we go to the Clerk of the Circuit Court where you live and they have a Probate Clerk and they will help you. Sorry for your loss. |
