In mo. is there a limit to how long land can be in probate

there is some land in my mo. town that i would like to buy. i contacted the person on the tax roll. she would like to sell but it is in probate. the other people wont sign off on it. she is stuck paying the taxes. this has been going on for 17 years. isnt there a time limit on this carzyness

It's in "probate" because a former owner died, so it would be owned by the "estate" of the deceased, and the estate (i.e., the executor) could petition the probate court for a power of sale (assuming no other owners). There are tidy rules for determination of whether a sale is allowed, and the executor can even post a bond for the property value, should the sale be later ruled improper or premature.
