Does anyone know how long probate takes in the uk?

Does anyone know how long probate takes in the uk?

it depends on the persons assets / property and also how many other parties are involved. it's not straight forward and takes longer the more people involved

If you are asking about grant of probate, a few weeks, once the paperwork is in. If you are asking how long it takes to complete the winding up of an estate, where there are complications it can take years. You have to deal with tax issues and sometimes make complex enquiries to make sure that all the assets have been gathered in. You are really asking about the length of a piece of string.

Hello,

it really depends on the size and complexity of the estate. First all of the property, which could be considerable (of any value) must be valued, then the written valuations sent to the probate registry, then, when the grant of probate is received the property may be sold and distributed. However, if the main property is a house getting fair value could take time, depending on the economic climate.

I hope this helps

Kind regards

Once you have submitted the papers to the Probate Office, you should get an appointment within 6 weeks - but it does depend on your area. After that, you get the Probate in a couple of weeks.
