Do Americans owe a great dept to the Native American for taking there lands and massacring there people?

I mean we British have been condemed for having an empire,
Has america made amends to these people, and let them live within American society or and (forgive my ignorance) still made to live on reservations, seeing that they are the indiginouse people of America.

Yes, as an American, i believe we do owe a great debt for taking their land and pillaging their people and massacring their villages. But also you have to see what came out of it, a new country was born, where people who were being persecuted or who wanted a better life, flocked to.
I think that america has done a decent job making amends with the Natives, they still have land with their own rules, and they are treated equally under the government. Atleast, I think they do, I'm not sure abut current laws and regulations.

The debt will be repaid when America self-destructs from within. When America falls to its own greed and its own hatred and its own corruption, the spirits of those who have fallen with be avenged.

Yes, absolutely. Will it ever happen? Of course not.

Of course they haven't made ammends. that would be admitting that what they did was wrong. And Americans never admit to doing anything wrong.

Cultural standards have evolved over the centuries. What was acceptable when the white man did what he did to the Native Americans is not acceptable now. However, can we be held accountable today? Why should we? It is unfair to punish today's society by prosecuting people for acts that were done hundreds of years ago and judging those acts against today's standards.

And its not really practical. How are we to decide which white person's ancestors did what to whom? Suppose you did find some white dude who you could prove, as a Native American, that that white dude's relatives once did something bad to that Native's relatives. Lets say that white dude is dirt poor. What good will it do the Native to drag the white dude to court? What good would it do our society in general?

Its more divisive than anything else.

Who'd the native americans get it from? Do you believe they crossed from asia into alaska to find a land with no people? They were fighting each other for land the same as anyone else. Doesn't justify America's treatment of indians but in all fairness consider the whole picture.

Another point rarely brought up is that most native americans died of disease when Europeans started coming over.

I'm not a big fan of the current nation-state thing anyway. Aren't you tired of it?

i didnt do anything like that, and none of them alive have had anything like that done to them, get over it, the history of the world is war and displacement, the past is past.

Personally no. Were not the people who did that. We just live with the effects of it.

Us owing dept for that could be compared to a father raping a woman getting her pregnant and then making the child pay for that. We are not responsible or have to make up for what others do before we are even in existence.

Also if anyone in America was to make up for it, it should strictly be the gov't without public support(no tax payers money).

I know that what happened is wrong but you can't blame us for it. We didn't choose this, we came from it. We should be thankful that, that happened. It created a place for a strong diverse society. In order for something good to happen, something awful must happen first. Like how World War II got us out of the depression. Millions died then the flourish from that was a stronger economy.

its not our fault the Indians had a poor immigration policy

I think that they do
