Why don't I have a constitutionally protected right to burn flag burners to death? |
They don't have any respect for the symbol of the freedom that allows them to do so that was bought in blood by our military, so if they're allowed their freedom to burn the flag to express their blind hatred of our country shouldn't I be allowed to burn them to death to express my feelings about the kind of people who have no respect whatsoever for the men and woman who have fought and died for the freedoms that they so carelessly take for granted? James- If our flag is just a piece of cloth then you're just a pile of flesh and bones. Quite an ironic question for the 4th of July. Sounds like you'd prefer to be living in a fascist dictatorship. Because a flag is just a symbol and by burning it they are expressing their dissatisfaction with current politics. Its to get the attention of ignorant people to try to wake them up. Burning flags gets a whole bunch of simple-minded people all worked-up which then draws attention to issues needing attention. It does not honor those heroes who fought for our freedom to kill other people for burning the flag. When you get all riled up like that at what they are doing, you are giving them exactly what they want. It bothers me, it is disrectful. But I realize the law protects them. So I just figure they are idiots, and yes the law does protect a lot of idiots. Because the legislature has prohibited murder and such laws do no run afoul of any clause in the constitution. Flag burning is not generally outlawed, as that is the prefered method of disposing of old, soiled flags, and is done by groups like the american legion every day. Instead, what some have tried to do is to outlaw being disrepectful of the symbol of the u.s. That type if content based law is prohibited by the first amendment. BTW, ever wonder how stupid it is to pledge allegience to the flag? I have pledged my allegience to the United States on several occassions, but I will be damned if I owe any loyalty to the SYMBOL of the United States. so that's what america means to you, the opportunity to immolate men, women, and children? there's a huge difference between symbols on a piece of fabric (most likely imported from Taiwan or China), and living breathing american citizens. this sort of talk is indicative of abberant thought processes. look deep into your heart and think about what you just wrote here. As despicable as it is, those people have the RIGHT to burn flags if they want to until such a time as there is an amendment to the Constitution prohibiting it.. If you were to burn a flag burner than you are violating the rights of that person, besides MURDER is illegal period. Each person has his or her beliefs; you wanting to burn the flag burner to death is no better than the flag burner burning the flag in the first place. In fact, it's basically the same thing; an opposition of someone else's beliefs. Murder is generally frowned upon in a civilized nation. Your right to free expression does not extend to causing physical harm to another person. You are more than welcome to burn an image of those people in effigy, however. Murder? well, thats a little different than flag burning, I'm afraid....we don't have the option of picking and choosing our rights, those people have the right to burn the flag if they choose...even If you and I disagree with it... It's hidden in the latest EPA regulations. Apparently burning them gives off too much carbon. Try applying for a carbon offset waiver. Because they have an unalienable right to live. This is because smarter brains than yours have concluded that human life is more valuable than symbolic pieces of cloth. Murder seems to be unacceptable in a civil society but the temptation is almost insurmountable.~ Because the rest of us have a better sense of perspective. Burn a voodoo doll of them. Your worried about flag burners when some people wear the flag as underwear.. how sad Cuz thats called murder. Yet I feel your pain. |
