I need an organization or persons that will represent a ex-military person for Libel and Slander?

I and a POW from the Battle of the Bulge flew the American Flag on Memorial Day. Our community did not after taking the old and torn Flag down and never replaced it. I received an e-mail that I was unpatriotic, the Flag is only a Symbol. I was disrespectdful, negative, hateful. They also stated Loving one's country does not mean displaying the flag. Symbols mean absolutely nothing and the freedom to feel patriotic has nothing to do with the flag. I e-mailed them and stated it was Blasfemy what had been done on such a sacred day.

I have an impeccable military record as a disabled American Veteran from Vietnam and a impeccable record of 24 years as a Police Officer, this has in my opinion defamed me in my community and tp my family

I do not understand your post.

Is someone taking legal action against you? Or are you planning on taking legal action against someone?

The first amendment provides broad power to the citizens to say anything they want about anyone they want to anyone they want. Libel and Slander require malicious false statements made against someone that have a negative effect on a persons public image. Someone sending you an email stating that they did not like your behavior is not any type of defamation. If I understand your situation correctly you have no case against anyone. It's not against the law to hurt someones feelings.

Having said that I am sympathetic to your hurt feelings.
First off symbols are very powerful psychologically and emotionally. Second, flying the flag is YOUR protected symbolic free speech that those men and women, YOUR friends shed their blood and died for. You do have a guaranteed right to honor their memory by flying the flag. A right paid for by the blood pf patriots. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Edit: Was their email to you made public? Defamation requires malicious FALSE statements that damage your reputation or public image. You cannot do anything about a person who expresses their opinion that you are "disrespectful, negative, hateful." for flying the flag. You need to show that a lie was told with the intent to damage your reputation.

I think it is vulgar and in extremely poor taste to tell a veteran that he is being "disrespectful, negative, hateful." for flying the flag on memorial day. But it's not illegal.
